Welcome to Juan Pacifico Ontiveros Elementary School, where our goal is to help every student be successful. Our staff, students, parents, and community members work together to ensure that every student is able to learn in a safe and caring environment. We value diversity and treat one another with respect and dignity as we promote equity. Our school motto is "Learning as We Soar Toward the Future."

At Ontiveros, collaboration among our staff is what makes our school special. Everyone is supported in their efforts to create, modify, and implement curriculum that will enable all students to learn. We are a true learning community. At Ontiveros, students participate in a broad-based curriculum, which includes integrated language arts, mathematics, science, history/social science, visual and performing arts, physical education, and health. High expectations for standards-based learning reflect a schoolwide belief that all students can achieve. One of our primary focuses has been to integrate technology across all of our grade levels. Students in kindergarten and first grade have one to one access to iPads that they use throughout their day as part of small group instruction. Students in second through sixth grade have one to one access to Chromebooks that they use for learning and assessments throughout the day.

Our goal is to instill the desire and passion to be lifelong learners that are productive and compassionate members of society. Each day through patience, perseverance, and high expectations we will build trust and success in a loving environment.

School Profile:
Ontiveros Elementary School is located in Santa Maria and serves students in  grades transitional kindergarten through six following a traditional calendar. At the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, 882 students were enrolled, including 12.1% in special education, 50.7% qualifying for English Language Learner support, 0.3% foster youth, 32.5% homeless youth, 8.6% migrant education, and 94.8% socioeconomically disadvantaged.
